Learn to sew with Afternoon and Annapatat! – Afternoon

Learn to sew with Afternoon and Annapatat!

The wonderful Annapatat is hosting a series of Love at First Stitch sewing classes, teaching you how to make your own beautifully handmade, wearable garments from Afternoon’s sewing patterns! (This is an announcement that I have been bursting to make, but have been holding back because classes are already fully booked! If you would like to take a class and learn to sew, please let me know so that we can gauge future interest.)

Annapatat shop

I met the owner of Annapatat, Anne Richardson, at Design Indaba and I was delighted to find such an enthusiastic fellow stitcher in her. And I’ve always admired her charming shop on visits to Muizenberg, so of course I was very excited to collaborate. Together, we really felt that the fading art of sewing needed to be brought to the fore, giving prospective sewers more opportunities to engage their creativity and learn a new skill.

Sewing classes

Annapatat’s previous basic sewing skills workshops have been such a hit, so the Love at First Stitch series with Afternoon is the next step in addressing the need for more beginner sewing classes! This time, Annapatat students will be making garments from Afternoon’s vintage-inspired patterns, designed and created locally.

In April and May, Anne will be teaching sewing classes for both the Amy skirt and the Michele dress. Both patterns are aimed at the beginner, and with an experienced teacher by your side, you will be sure to emerge with something beautiful to wear and be proud of!

If you’re keen on taking the plunge and becoming a maker, take a class! Email me to find out more.
