Fabric shopping in Cape Town

There's little I enjoy more than spending a morning exploring fabric shops, breathing in the fresh crisp smell of cotton, running my fingers along the bolts, and indulging my love for pattern.

Last week, I was on a mission to find some fabric shops in Cape Town that stocked beautiful quilters cotton. I was looking to expand my bow tie offerings, and the quality and design of these quilters fabrics really are unbeatable.

I came across an absolute gem in Dot's Quilts in Epping, Cape Town. And I was lucky to meet the lovely Dot behind this beautiful shop! She stocks a wide variety of designer fabrics from plain to printed, traditional to modern, restrained to eccentric. It was wonderful to talk to someone so knowledgable about her materials, and so enthusiastic about her craft. If you get to pop in, I do recommend it. Perhaps, like me, you may even be tempted to try your hand at quilting. At the very least, you will leave inspired.

I bought a beautiful range of fabrics, that will soon be available as bow ties and brooches in the store.
